Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 October 2026

This policy explains what Faded Eden collects, why, who it is shared with, and what you can do about it. We have tried to keep it in plain language.

1. Information we collect

Account data. Your email address and password (stored as a secure hash, never in readable form). If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile details from Google instead of a password.

Profile data. Whatever you choose to add: display name, username, bio, avatar image, skill level, instruments and roles, genres, country, region, city, remote availability and language preference. Most of this is visible to other members and, for public profiles, to visitors.

Content you create. Projects, tasks, notes, project chat and direct messages, collaboration posts and requests, gear listings, and the audio, stems and files you upload.

Payment data. Handled by Stripe. We store only what we need to run your subscription: your plan, its status, the current period end, whether it is set to cancel, and Stripe’s customer and subscription identifiers. We never see or store your full card number.

Usage and service records. To run Faded Eden we keep records the service needs: a “last seen” time used to show whether someone is online, counts of AI translation and generation requests used for fair-use limits, feedback you send us, and subscription events from our payment provider (for example, when a plan starts, renews, is cancelled or a payment fails). These are linked to your account. Like any website, our hosting and database providers also create technical request logs, which can include your IP address and browser type. Optional analytics are separate and described in section 2.

2. Cookies, local storage and analytics

Necessary browser storage. We save a few things in your browser so the site works: keeping you signed in, your interface language, a referral code if you arrived through a member’s invite link, the plan you picked before signing up, unsaved Studio drafts, whether you’ve dismissed the tour or a news banner, and your privacy choice. These are not used for analytics.

Optional analytics — your choice, worldwide. We ask every visitor, wherever they are, before using optional analytics. Optional analytics are currently switched off. Even if you press Accept, nothing is collected for analytics. If we turn optional analytics on, we’ll ask you again; an earlier Accept won’t count. We will also update this page first.

  • Before you choose, and whenever you choose Decline, we create no analytics identifier and send no analytics information. Every part of Faded Eden works the same either way.
  • If you choose Accept, and once optional analytics are turned on, your browser would store a random identifier, plus a second one that lasts only for the tab. We would record which Faded Eden pages you view, the page you came from within Faded Eden, the name of a website that sent you (for example “google.com”, never its full address), and whether you use a phone, tablet or computer. These records would not be linked to your account, even when you’re signed in, and would not contain your name, email, IP address or a device fingerprint.
  • Changing your mind. Use Privacy choices at the bottom of every page to see the notice again. Choosing Decline deletes our analytics identifiers from your browser and stops optional analytics straight away. Clearing your browser storage also removes them.

Your choice is saved only in your own browser. If you use another browser or device, or clear your storage, we’ll ask again.

Analytics collected before 16 October 2026. Before we introduced this choice, we recorded page views and some feature activity (for example, sign-ups) without asking first. Those records include a random browser identifier and the name of the referring website, and for signed-in members many also include a link to the member’s account. We are keeping those older records unchanged while we review how long to keep them, and we are not adding to them. You can ask us to review or delete records linked to your account (see section 8).

Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout to process payments and prevent fraud. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

3. Audio, files and uploads

Files you upload are stored in private storage. Project files and tracks are readable only by members of that project. Avatar and listing images are served through links so they can appear on your profile and on published listings.

Some Studio features — playback, mixing, EQ, WAV export and stem separation — run in your browser, so that audio is processed on your own device.

Deleting a file removes it from the app. Backup copies may persist for a limited period before they age out.

4. How we use information

  • to create and run your account, and keep you signed in;
  • to show your profile, projects, posts and listings to the people you intend;
  • to deliver messages, notifications and collaboration requests;
  • to run subscriptions, plan limits and storage quotas;
  • to provide optional AI features such as interface and content translation;
  • to keep the service secure — blocking abuse, spam, fraud and scraping;
  • to understand which features are used: through optional analytics only if you accept (currently switched off), and through overall totals drawn from our own service records, such as how many projects were created. We don’t use the contents of your music, recordings, files or messages for analytics;
  • to reply when you contact us;
  • to meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell your music.

5. Sharing and service providers

Other members and the public. Your public profile, public projects, collaboration posts and active listings are visible to others — including people who are not signed in. Private projects, direct messages and drafts are not.

Service providers. We use a small number of providers to run Faded Eden: Supabase (database, authentication and file storage), Cloudflare (hosting and delivery), Stripe (payments), Google (only if you choose Google sign-in), and an AI provider for translation and generation features, which receives only the text or audio needed for the request you made.

Legal and safety. We may disclose information if we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse or protect people from harm.

Business changes. If the service is ever transferred to another owner, account data may transfer with it; we would tell you first.

6. How long we keep it

We keep account, profile and content data while your account is open. You can delete individual items at any time, and they are removed from the app. Messages you sent to another member may remain visible in that person’s copy of the conversation until your account is closed.

Closing your account. You can’t yet delete your account yourself from the app. To close it, contact us through the Contact page, ideally while signed in. We confirm that the request comes from the account holder, then review each request individually, including its effect on shared projects and any files still held in storage. We act on verified requests without undue delay.

Shared projects. If you own a project shared with other musicians, you can hand it over to another member from the project’s owner tools before asking us to close your account. If you don’t, closing your account may delete that project and its contents for everyone. Content you added to other members’ projects, such as tracks, files, notes and project chat, may also be removed. Your collaborators keep whatever rights they have in their own work; we will try to give affected members a chance to save their work, but we can’t guarantee advance notice in every case.

What closing an account removes. The profile, settings, posts, listings, Studio sessions, messages the account sent, notifications, account-linked analytics and subscription record are removed from Faded Eden. Some records are kept without your name attached, such as project activity history and feedback you sent us. Uploaded files are not removed from storage automatically when these records are deleted; we handle them separately as part of your request.

Feedback messages you send us are deleted automatically 30 days after we mark them resolved.

Payment records. Our payment provider keeps payment and tax records for as long as the law requires, and we keep the records we must keep for the same reasons.

Analytics records. Older analytics records (see section 2) are kept while we review them. For future optional analytics, we plan to keep detailed records for no more than 90 days and then keep only overall totals that can’t identify anyone. This automatic deletion is not in place yet; we will update this page when it is.

Backups and technical logs. Backup copies and technical logs held by our hosting and database providers are kept for periods those providers set, which we have not yet confirmed. We will update this page when we have.

7. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed. Database access is protected by row-level security rules so that members can only reach their own data and data shared with them, and storage buckets are private by default. We limit who on our side can access production data.

No online service can promise perfect security. Use a strong, unique password, and tell us if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.

8. Your rights and choices

You can view and edit your profile, change your language preference, delete your own projects, files, listings and posts, block or report other members, and cancel your subscription from your billing settings.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to certain processing, or complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us and we will help.

You can change your analytics choice at any time from Privacy choices at the bottom of every page. To ask us to review or delete your account information, older analytics records linked to your account, or files you uploaded, contact us through the Contact page — see section 6 for how account closure works.

9. Children and minors

Faded Eden is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will remove it. If you are between 13 and 18, please use the service with a parent or guardian’s involvement.

10. International users

Faded Eden is used by musicians around the world. Your information may be stored and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and the European Union, where our providers operate. Wherever it is processed, this policy applies.

11. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change, and update the date at the top. For significant changes we will give notice in the app.

12. Contact

For any privacy question or request, use the contact form.
